WeChat Public Account Opening Manifest

WeChat Public Account (abbr. WPA) is a useful branding/operating approach available on the largest social communication software offered by Tencent.

Types

There are 2 types of WPA: subscription account and service account. The official explaination of the differences between them are as instructed on https://mp.weixin.qq.com/

Account Opening

To establish a WPA account, the following items are required.

For photos, images should be provided in jpg(jpeg)/png format less then 500kb in size and all 4 corners should be revealed for document or card.

• [ ] An email account as auth code recipient‌
• [ ] [Deferable] An Avatar image in square shape
• [ ] Photo of ID document of the enterprise law person
• [x] Photo of ID document of one Chinese citizen as operator/liaison, if law person is not Chinese (political, not ethnical)
• [ ] Mobile number of law person
• [x] Mobile number of the operator/liaison
• Any other additional materials asked by Tencent

Identity verification is required to unlock WPA features, which asks for:

• [ ] Photo of ID document, varies on account subject identity
  • For enterprise: register license
  • For individual: ID card for Chinese citizen or passport for foreign citizen
• Bank account verification for enterprise
  • [ ] Corporate bank account: a tiny amount transfer will be made by Tencent to verify the identity of the subject of a WPA
    • Bank name
    • Account name
  • [Deferred] The amount of the described transfer (the logic is that Tencent believes the bank account supervisor could reasonably represent the corresponding enterprise on non-transaction events like social media account opening up, like WPA)
• Any other additional materials asked by Tencent
